IHSA tweaks schedule again

The Illinois High School Association expanded the schedules for teams in the winter, spring and now summer sports seasons.

The IHSA waived the limitation that would have restricted teams in those seasons to no more than two contests per week.

Teams also can now play in tournaments that are larger than three teams, however, if there are more than three teams then those tournaments will have to use multiple venues.

Several sports are competing right now, girls swimming and tennis, boys and girls cross country and boys and girls golf. The rest of the competitive school year breaks down this way:

Fall sports runs from August 10 to October 24.

Winter sports runs from November 16 to February 13 (boys/girls basketball, wrestling, boys swimming, cheerleading, dance, boys/girls bowling).

Spring sports runs from February 15 to May 1 (football, boys soccer, girls volleyball).

Summer sports runs from May 3 to June 26 (baseball, softball, boys/girls track, girls soccer, boys volleyball, boys tennis).
